Framed: white window mount, charcoal stained oak frame
Rachael Lee uses boxes collected from her groceries to create this Blue Box series of collagraphs.
The artist carefully flattens the box to use as her printing plate, scribing into the glossy printed surface with a needle point to create lines and tearing away the surface area to create tone. The plate is then inked with the glossy surface wiped back to create highlights. Dampened paper is placed over the plate and run through an etching press under considerable pressure to produce each unique image.
