ARTIST STATEMENT

“When I swim, I feel an overwhelming sense of weightlessness, as though I am unobserved and wrapped in a quiet stillness. The world becomes soft and tranquil, allowing my thoughts to drift freely. My senses blur, opening a space where I can truly explore the depths of my emotions and reflections.”

Inspired by the traditional artistry of crab pots and fish catchers placed within coastal landscapes, these wire sculptures reflect the result of extensive experimentation with textile techniques such as weaving, knitting, crochet, and interlinking. By employing a pair of pliers and a spool of wire, the artist has crafted self-supporting structures that evoke both weightlessness and a sense of confinement, capturing the fluid movement of swimming in water.
