Tim Klein | Lover Twins: The Acceptance

The Lover Twins series was inspired by the two headed ‘Ain Ghazal sculptures of Jordan dating back 9000 years and a poem I wrote decades ago. The prehistoric statues are amongst the earliest large-scale representations of the human form. The poem refers to the archetype idealized lover/soul mate that we often go searching for in others. The challenge is to embrace this archetype as part of ourselves.

I am the seeking knight,
forever in search of the original embrace
maps/ memories traced in my gut
surface with the brush of your sleeve against my skin
suggesting hinting deep waters beneath
I dream I drown
dissolving in
my lover twin
