MARK GAWNE

Mark Gawne is an Australian artist recognised for his unique and highly colourful artworks in drawing and painting. In 1999 his artwork was honoured in the Cairns Regional Art Show when he won the ‘Peoples Choice’ Award.

The award brought about a surge of press articles and caught the eye of gallery directors around Australia. With this impetus, Mark exhibited in galleries in Cairns, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. He has continued to win a number of awards and has sold consistently around the world since 2000.

Currently represented exclusively by Revival Art & Design, Mark was formerly represented by Schuberts at the Gold Coast.

“It’s important to have good control of your medium and I can layer and texture oil paints confidently, allowing me spontaneity in my art and creating thick textures that highlight details in the landscape.”

He has always painted, experimenting with different mediums and styles, but it wasn’t until an outback holiday in 1999 that his direction in art changed completely; the influence and colours of the outback landscape, ever-present in his work.
