BIOGRAPHY

As well as exhibiting internationally, Piekutowski has completed multiple artist residencies around the world including in Portugal, Italy, Greece, Spain, New Zealand, Tasmania and India. Artist residencies have been a fundamental tool in exploring cultural identity and the disconnection with her Polish heritage. Travelling has performed as a link, a bridge between different cultures, assisting her exploration into connection to place and sense of belonging. Piekutowski reflects on disconnection, melancholia and nostalgia within her original, multi-layered etchings. Her work incorporates multiple layers using various mediums such as acrylic paint, spray paint, gold leaf, gold ink, gloss varnish, water-colours and gouache. Using a modern and contemporary approach, Piekutowski aims to challenge and redefine the traditional and historic etching technique through her printmaking practice.
