DESCRIPTION:Amber Simpson\nWaterbodies \nCreating art outside of time on Turrbal country\, Amber Simpson’s\nrecent body of work invokes a dreamy stillness where sparkling\nwatery landscapes caress and contrast with iconically designed\nliving spaces outlined in timber veneer: the world within and the\nworld without.\nAmber puts a contemporary twist on traditional marquetry\, inlaying\nhand cut wood veneer to create an abstract base upon which she\napplies vibrant/dreamy waterscapes in oil.\nInspired by locations such as Carnarvon Gorge\, Lakes Kurwongbah and\nSamsonvale\, even the Nile in Egypt\, Amber’s work is often described\nas an intersection between art\, craft and design\, giving her work\nbroad aesthetic appeal and decorative value. Her exhibition\n‘Waterbodies’ weaves a transcendent narrative around stillness and\nthe sacred.\nAmber was born in Bowral\, NSW\, and is a graduate of North Adelaide\nSchool of the Arts. Her work is in private collections in Australia\,\nNew Zealand and Singapore.
