From the brands we buy to the ornaments we choose to place closest to us, our home is a sacred place, where seemingly insignificant corners give great insight into our character, our temperament, our beliefs, and our rituals. It’s those mundane moments that give the greatest insight into another, and provide subtle commentary on society as a whole
For this exhibition, I have curated a selection of eclectic individuals ranging in backgrounds to be my subjects. From scientists to soldiers, to healers and artists, each person has their own story.
I ask to be invited into their homes and from the encounter create a painting based on their surroundings. From their bathroom cabinet to their kitchen benchtop, to their bedside table, these paintings act as indirect portraits of my subjects as I try to understand who they are.
ABSORPTION RUNS FROM 17-27 FEBRUARY.
OPENING NIGHT: THURSDAY 17 FEB 5:30 – 7:30PM.
